Six Minute Dating, in two minutes.

The festival is already flying by in a flurry.  I arrived late on Sunday, but in enough time to meet everyone for the famous Martini Madness hosted by Women in Film and Television - Alberta.  Fitting start to event that is as much "networking", we'll call it, as learning.

It was a pleasure to attend the Alberta Film Annual Awards Lunch, hosted by the hilarious Colin Mochrie.  Receiving and award was the equally uproarious Brent Butt, who did not disappoint.  Not only is Mr. Butt one heck of a funny guy, he is also very inspirational in that his cleverly scripted Corner Gas hit the screen when the debate on the future of broadcast was beginning and the conclusion that there was not any good Canadian content was well established.

Two Master Classes filled the rest of my day; Alan Poul, Executive Producer of the recently aired SWINGTOWN, and The incredibly talented Doug Ellin, Executive Producer and Head Writer for on of my favorite HBO series ENTOURAGE.  Is it luck, is it talent, was it being at the right place at the right time?  These two gentlemen must have hit all of the above.
