Review of Day 1 - BANFF

So I decided to take it easy this morning - yesterday's events were quite turbulent to say the least and was full and in the end left me quite exhausted.  But it's all good.

My flight was delayed for 2 hours due to 'engine' problems (not cute) and my plans of being able to decompress for a few hours prior to heading to the introductory workshop were quickly eliminated - got in just in time to drop off my luggage, quickly freshen up and head to Rookies in the Rockies which was fairly informative.  A panel of Commissioning Editors basically laid out the do's and don'ts on how to operate during this festival.  The emphasis for this event they stressed should not be to sell a show but to build relationships - that and attend all the social events that you can and drink as much as you can.  Not bad advice.  OK so new mission: I now release all expectations and declare to have a wonderful time, eating, drinking and creating great relationships!

From there as a good delegate, I when to hear the opening remarks from the keynote speaker and began my smoozing... surprisingly I knew more people than I thought in the vast crowds and found that many people approached me to find out who I am and what I do.  Ended up at the CBC opening reception, met Simone the CWC rep who was fantastic (yes this is a shout out!), and gobbled down some fantastic hors d'oeuvres.  My nighttime life consisted of  after parties hopping that were not too bad.

All in all, pretty good first day if I do say so myself.  Now heading out to begin Day 2.
