Reality TV

Scripted or non scripted reality TV?  That was a major part of this mornings discussion with Mark Pedowitz, President ABC Studios.  I was so pleased to hear that the upcoming summer will offer programming with substance, at least a little anyway.  I keep thinking that the reality wagon will run out; how many faux voyeur medleys are there?  Apparently it's endless.  The suite of programs Mr. Pedowitz described are inventive and really interesting.

Following that discussion, a new session called THE CRAFT was introduced where the process of what gets the idea to the screen on a series is presented.  David Hoselton, Producer and writer for HOUSE described how one sentence like "House on a plane"  evolves into a few pages, 12 pages and then onto the screen.  I really enjoyed listening to him not only because he produces a great show and is very entertaining himself, but listening to the process is fascinating.

Have to run, Kim Catrell is taking the stage.
