I.T. Has Nothing On Me
Looks like my internet travails are behind me. Which is a good thing apparently Canada leads the world in internet usage and development. So, we are pleasant, polite and cutting edge. This information came to me yesterday during the panel discussion entitled The Biz: Where's the Audience? The panel was moderated by a very entertaining Gavin McGarry and welcomed Anna Gecan, Vice President of Content, HGTV - CanWest Broadcasting Inc., Barry Kiefl, President - CMRI and Bryan Segal, Senior Director - Comscore Media Metrix. It began as really a deluge of stats, which I love, which drew light again to the issue of Television viewing vs internet use. Contrary to popular belief Television viewing has actually gone up over the last few years in Canada, but we are also the leading users of the internet world wide. An interesting fact for us is that women are the top users of social networking sites; the average female spending two hours more a day than men on social networking. Surprised? Not really.
